The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability Specialisation) provides enrolled students with an entry level qualification into the Disability Sector. This nationally accredited qualification is recognized in all States and Territories in Australia. This course is designed for individuals wanting to work in residential services, outreach services, individualised support services, hostels and other community and adult training services.

Course Start Dates :
Every Monday (unless it falls on a public holiday). The cut off for enrolment will be the Friday the week before.

 

Course Duration and Schedule :
Day Course Duration

  • 10 weeks face-to- face training followed by a 6 to 10 weeks (depending on individual progress) of self-study period.
  • Plus a minimum of 120 hours of work placement (to be completed over 4 weeks)

Schedule

  • Monday to Wednesday* – 7.45 AM to 3.45 PM, plus mentoring sessions on Friday depending on individual learning requirements.
  • Allow 100 hrs of self-study and research time for the duration of the classroom training schedule.
  • Work placement – Monday to Friday (Times may vary depending on the facility, but usually from 7:00 AM to 3.30 PM)
Evening Course: Duration

  • 15 weeks face-to- face training followed by a 6 to 10 weeks (depending on individual progress) of self-study period.
  • Plus a minimum of 120 hours of work placement (to be completed over 4 weeks)

Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday* - 4.00 PM to 8.00 PM, plus mentoring sessions on Friday depending on individual learning requirements.
  • Allow 100 hrs of self-study and research time for the duration of the classroom training schedule.
  • Work placement – Monday to Friday (Times may vary depending on the facility, but usually from 7:00 AM to 3.30 PM)

* As described earlier, Competency Based Training is based on the learner being able to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Some students may take longer to do this. Auscare offers support to all students and can arrange for further training should competency not be demonstrated in the period detailed here.

Mode of Delivery :
This course will be delivered face-to- face in class and comprise of both theory and practical components. It also involves on the job practical training (work placement). Learners are also required to complete self-study and research/project work.
Work Experience :
As a requirement of this qualification, you need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an approved facility Auscare has agreements in place with various facilities around Perth Metropolitan area enabling 4 weeks of full time work placement for each student.

Note: We are unable to guarantee that work placement will take place immediately after the Face-to- Face delivery. This can cause a break in between the Face-to- Face delivery and work placement, which may affect the end date of the qualification.

You will need to complete the following 13 units to successfully achieve the qualification. The units fall under three categories – Core, Compulsory and Elective. The elective units have been selected to meet the requirements of the work placements.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

Assessment Methods :

Competency Based Training is based on the learner being able to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Competency standards are industry-determined specifications of performance that set out the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in a specific industry or profession. For a person to be assessed competent, they need to demonstrate the ability to perform tasks and duties to the standard expected in employment. Competency standards are an endorsed component of a training package.

Auscare Training Organisation uses a range of assessment methods to assess the competency of learners. The methods used will depend on the unit itself and can include

  • Written questions
  • Verbal questions
  • Case studies / Scenarios
  • Roleplays / Simulations / Demonstrations
  • Work placement assessment book/ 3rd party report
  • Written report/ Presentation/ Project

Fees:

Tuition Fee: $2,000
Resources Fee: $100
Tuition Fee: $2,000
The student is required to pay a deposit of 50% of the Tuition Fee plus the $100 Resources Fee upon enrolment. The balance is payable 2 weeks prior to the end of the classroom training. Please refer to our Refund Policy before application.
Recognition of Prior Learning (IPL) is charged at $77 per unit of competency.

Minimum Age: Applicants must be 18 years of age or above at course commencement
Entry Requirements No minimum education standard is set as a prerequisite to entry to this course. However, you should be aware that as the sector works closely with bodily functions, medical and anatomy terms are used and must be understood, therefore a general command of spoken and written English, ability to communicate with colleagues and clients as well as the ability to read and write a simple report is required. This course requires the satisfactory completion of oral and written tasks.

These documents must be submitted by the applicant and reviewed by Auscare prior to work placement.

Applicants must successfully complete each stage in order to enrol.
